Piglet, Pooh & Tigger Would Be Pleased

I love Winnie the Pooh!  Always have, always will 🙂

I grew up reading and watching all of the Pooh books and movies; the books were delightful, as I could use my imagination, but I do think that Disney did a wonderful job bringing the characters to life!

When I had my boys, of course I naturally shared all things from the Hundred Acre Wood with them; our first son’s room was completely decorated with Pooh Bear, and his first favourite toy was a small Eeyore! (so much, in fact, that I  had to buy a 2nd one, just so I could wash the 1st one!)

So you’re probably wondering – what do Piglet, Pooh and Tigger, et al, have to do with stamping?!  Well, I just love the new Balloon Celebrations set and it’s matching Balloon Bouquet Punch – and every time I see balloons, I think of Piglet being whisked up into the air while holding onto a balloon; of Eeyore finding out how to celebrate with even a busted balloon, and of course Tigger, who declared them all to be a bunch of “balloonatics!” 🙂

Today’s card is for the Watercooler Wednesday challenge – WWC49 – with a sketch by the fabulous Jackie Susnik.  (I realized afterwards that Jackie must also have been channeling her inner Pooh bear; she too used balloons!)

Here is Jackie’s sketch:

And here is my card:

WWC49 Balloon Celebrations

See  how the balloons are being blown to one side?  If you squint your eyes, and use your imagination, you can see Piglet hanging on, and calling to Pooh bear for help! 🙂

I started with a card base of Melon Mambo, then added a panel of the confetti pattern from the It’s My Party DSP Stack.  I stamped the balloon strings in Archival Black ink onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock, then stamped the balloons onto scrap pieces, and punched them out using the Balloon Bouquet Punch.

The balloons were stamped in Mint Macaron, Melon Mambo and Crushed Curry.  For the Crushed Curry balloons, I stamped the texture in Delightful Dijon; I used the same colours for the other balloons.  I attached the balloons using Stampin’ Dimensionals, and then added the sentiment (stamped in Melon Mambo) layered with Basic Black cardstock, to the bottom right corner.

This is where I have to confess to an ‘accident’; I wasn’t happy with the placement of the bottom Melon Mambo balloon, so I decided to move it.  🙁  Bad idea – it tore the paper!  Which is why I added the sequins – trying to cover up the boo-boo!  Which just reinforces what I always say in my classes – ‘there are no mistakes, just opportunities for embellishment!’.  LOL

So that’s my card – I do hope you’ll head over & check out the cards made by the design team, and the other cards submitted for the challenge.  If you’re quick – there’s still time to join!  The deadline is Noon MT (11 am PST).

Until next time – have a flouncy, pouncy, trouncy, bouncy, fun-fun-fun-fun-fun day!  Hoo hoo hoo hoo!
